Make Me Up

I’ve been educating myself about makeup lately. Though I’ve been putting on makeup since I was 17, I still haven’t tried much makeup brands. Well, I haven’t really put any effort on exploring since all I put is mascara and rouge…. and lipstick from time to time… until now!

I’ve noticed that my skin (since I’m getting older) needs more than a day cream and some baby powder. I’ve also discovered that my tired eyes could use some eyeshadows to brighten them up. I do put some but only when I go to parties/events, which hasn’t been as often as it used to, ever since I got my kids. Not that I’m complaining, though, just my lame excuse for not attaining good enough skills to “make me up” … L.O.L. 🙂

I tried, not so long ago to achieve a flawless look. Mind you, it was tiresome! I wasn’t aware how much work there was to look as if you DIDN’T put any makeup at all…..

It’s not that easy for me to know which makeup to choose. I’ve noticed that all the makeup brands I’ve checked had their “own” reputable makeup artists that recommend “their” brand which makes it harder – for me anyway. I think I just have to try and try till I find the products that work for me.

Here are two of the looks I’ve created lately with my little knowledge about makeup techniques and with the makeup I had in my drawer:

You can see how amateur I am, right 🙂

I have tried with shades of green, dark brown and white from M.A.C.  Eyebrow pencil from L’Oréal and lipstick and rouge from Guerlain.

Amateur with less than 10 minutes to put makeup on and….voila!

With the time pressure combined with my skills, all I have managed to put was a little bit of rouge from Helena Rubinstein and M.A.C eyeshadows in black and blue.

As you might have noticed, I could use some foundation and some serious concealer! Not to mention lessons on how to put makeup and A LOT of practice!

This is how I usually put my makeup on. Just a little bit of eyeshadow, rouge and mascara.

As far as mascara is concern, I have different brands which I use depending on what kind of effect I would like to have. Plus, my eyelashes aren’t as thick as they used to and I’ve always have lashes which are not even; for some reason one is longer but thinner than the other. So I normally use 2-3 different mascara at a time.

My personal favourites for everyday use are Lancome: L’Extreme on one and Hypnose on the other 🙂 These 2 even up and give my lashes a natural look and feel – light and soft.

I love Max Factor‘s Lash Silk, but unfortunately I can’t find them here in Norway anymore (nor Sweden for that matter). I think they might have replaced it with 2000 Calorie Curved Brush. Somehow, I don’t find it the same 😦  So, yeah, I use MF 2000 Calorie, putting Maybelline‘s Define-A-Lash as a first stroke.

Otherwise, I use L’Oréal Double Extension Beauty Tubes. They are good on giving my lashes fuller look and makes my lashes longer but the thing is, the “extensions” tend to bend down so I put a stroke of MF 2000 Calorie to finish it up.

This mascara ‘business’ of mine is far more complicated than it is to others, but hey… that’s me… complicated and a bit peculiar 🙂

I’ve asked around and did some few researches and got to know about some makeup brands that were (and still are) new to me. So, I will take up this makeup subject on my next posts, as well 🙂

So if you’re a makeup enthusiast or simply love to see great photos (without my face on them, promise 🙂 ), well you better stay tuned!

Till then …. XOXO
